Shelf the Gap is an inclusive book drive -- we are committed to collecting unique and high-quality fiction books for children aged 8-14, highlighting the need for stories in regional languages.
More than 850 kids from Nursery to Grade 12 get free education at the Bagiya Learning Center -- a non-profit run by The Sanshil Foundation. Bagiya believes in learning in a holistic way, creating a space where kids can explore their interests through creative avenues like theater, sports, art, and crafts. This is also the philosophy my project, Paathshala+, is based on. It helps kids access more extracurricular events and follow their interests outside of school.
I started and organized a community book drive earlier this summer. It brought kids and families together to get a wide range of books for readers of all ages. Now, the next step at Bagiya Learning Center is to make these books into comfortable Reading Nooks in their classes. In addition, we are working towards creating a Music Room where the wonderful 850+ children at Bagiya can learn music.
The funds from this campaign will be used to build these reading nooks and the music room as part of the Bagiya Learning Center's ongoing programs for all-around education. We need to raise INR 50,000 to make this happen. That amount will cover shelves, comfortable chairs, musical instruments, and setting up the whole room.
Every gift will help make these places welcoming and inspiring for the wonderful young students that Bagiya Learning Center helps, no matter where they come from. This way, they can read, play, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Let's find a home for these books and songs, and redefine learning!
